Weekend Trip With Friends? Give Atlanta a Closer Look

Places

When it comes to group getaways, we know New Orleans is a classic Southern destination for obvious reasons – but don’t overlook Atlanta. With fantastic dining, unmistakable style and more nightlife hotspots than we could ever recommend fitting into a single trip, The A is perfect for a weekend with friends. Read up on some of the locals’ favorite places for a guaranteed good time.

One Eared Stag – Inman Park

“The burgers at One Eared Stag are simple…with a twist. (In my mind, the best kind of twist involves bacon.) This patty, ground daily with a generous portion of bacon, is thin, crispy and hangs over the bun like rings around Saturn. It’s served on a bed of fries with a knife through the top to hold this beauty together. The classic glass-bottle Coke served over ice is a necessary side piece.” – as recommended by Atlanta @localeur Tyler @tyleragar

Sid & Ann Mashburn – West Midtown

“Favorites of many an Atlanta local and located in West Midtown, Sid Mashburn sells men’s tailored clothing (suits, sport coats, ties) with a bit of sportswear ranging from APC to Levis, plus a private-label collection. Ann, outside of her own collection, offers ready-to-wear from labels such as APC, Isabel Marant Etoile and J Brand.” – as recommended by Atlanta @localeur Kris @ktriplett14

Hungry Ghost – Edgewood

“Relatively new to the scene, Hungry Ghost is located on one of the most active bar districts in Atlanta, Edgewood. Being open late-night and being BYOB makes Hungry Ghost a go-to for any post-club adventures. Even though their menu has some wild options (short rib beignets, anyone?), the báhn mì is right down the middle. Good bread, good meat, good veggies, good pate, good sandwich. Nothing better than a 2 a.m. báhn mì to soak up all the fun.” – as recommended by Atlanta @localeur Quinn @q1hunnid

Skyline Park – Old Fourth Ward

“High atop Ponce City Market awaits a glass of frosé and a great evening. While restaurants across Atlanta are slinging frosé with the swiftness, the cocktail at Skyline Park comes complete with sweeping views of the city skyline. Sip your beverage of choice while you kick some butt at Skee-ball or one of Skyline Park’s countless other games on offer.” – as recommended by Atlanta @localeur Danielle @lushworthy

The SOS Tiki Bar – Decatur

“The SOS Tiki Bar is a secret spot nestled behind Decatur’s Victory Sandwich Bar; a required stop if you’re in the area. These guys are serving up the best tiki drinks in town and have the cutest menu to match (am I the only one who instantly loves a place more if the branding is on point?). Their individual drinks are amazing, but if you go with four or five friends, try their punch bowl. You’ll simply pick your liquor and the flavor you’re craving, and a bartender will whip up something dangerously good.” – as recommended by Atlanta @localeur Claire @claire.currie

Taqueria del Sol – multiple locations

“If you really want to feel like an ATL local, you have to check out Taqueria del Sol. Lines are usually out the door, but don’t fret – service is so fast, your tacos will be at your table the second you sit down! The menu is small, with only seven tacos to choose from (six permanent, one weekly special), but each of these simplistic, unique masterpieces is delicious. I usually opt for a veggie and a brisket (and a fish if I’m feeling extra hungry) and pair it with queso and a frozen marg.” – as recommended by Atlanta @localeur Claire @claire.currie
