Reflecting on Pride Month 2018

Nonstop pride

Now that Pride Month has come to a close, we are reflecting on how we celebrated the LGBTQ+ community throughout the month of June, and how we plan to continue supporting the community every day of the year.

Marching for Harmony and Humanity

We were excited team up with the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus (NYCGMC) during Pride Month. Nearly 50 JetBlue crewmembers danced and sang through the streets alongside NYCGMC during the annual New York City Pride Parade. JetBlue is proud to partner with NYCGMC, and we had fun showcasing our love for this group during the NYC Pride Parade.

From Skyscrapers to Palm Trees

Further down south, JetBlue participated in the Stonewall Pride Parade in Wilton Manors, Florida. Crewmembers from the Sunshine State had a blast strutting their stuff and repping JetBlue in Ft. Lauderdale.

Supporting the Community on Stonewall Day

For the second year in a row, JetBlue partnered with The Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative (SIGBI). This year, JetBlue matched all drinks purchased at The Stonewall Inn bar in Greenwich Village, NYC on Stonewall Day with a donation to SIGBI to help underserved LGBTQ+ communities.

SIGBI also gave back this year to an initiative that’s close to our hearts by choosing Puerto Rican nonprofit Proyecto Matria as the 2018 beneficiary. As the #1 airline in Puerto Rico with more daily flights than any other airline, and with nearly 500 crewmembers who call Puerto Rico home, we were excited that SIGBI chose an organization that is also important to the JetBlue community.

Celebrating Family, Food, and Fun

JetBlue is also proud to be the official airline for The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, known locally as simply The Center. We participated in The Center’s annual Garden Party event, as well as The Center’s Family Pride Picnic. Over 500 LGBTQ+ families celebrated with us for a day of outdoor fun, carnival games, face painting, music, BBQ, and more. Jamming out on the JetBlue Stage were musical artists Dan Zanes and Claudia Eliaza.

Non-stop (Jet)Pride

Beyond Pride Month, we are committed to celebrating the LGBTQ+ community year-round.

JetBlue has a Crewmember Resource Group called JetPride, which is open to all LGBTQ+ crewmembers and allies. JetPride provides career mentorship for crewmembers, supports external LGBTQ+ initiatives, and explores other ways to help the LGBTQ+ community within JetBlue continue to thrive.

Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality

We’re proud that for the past six years, JetBlue has received the top score of 100 on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI) from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. We’ve only gotten here thanks to the work, and work environment, cultivated by the entire JetBlue crewmember community, based off of surveys and reports on our policies that reflect LGBTQ+ workplace equality.

Each and every one of our crewmembers is a part of our JetBlue family, and it is important that we continue to do our part to make sure everyone is supported in their own individuality. We’ve focused on a number of issues to push for LGBTQ+ equality – non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive healthcare benefits, public engagement with the LGBTQ+ community, etc. We’re proud of the inclusive environment here at JetBlue; we can’t inspire humanity without cultivating it internally.

JetBlue thanks all of our partners, crewmembers, and customers for a great Pride Month celebrating diversity, equality, and inclusion together!
