JAX Crewmembers ride over 26 miles to fight cancer

From coast to coast and beyond, Crewmembers are committing to the fight against cancer. JAX is no exception, and General Manager Dennis Lorenzo shared the story behind the Florida BlueCity’s participation in a massive cycling event this past weekend:

JetBlue Airways is a proud sponsor of 26.2 with Donna Deegan: The National Marathon to Finish Breast Cancer, which Team Jacksonville will run in on Feb. 21 2010. Nevertheless, this past Sunday, Nov. 15, we participated in the inaugural Bike 26.2 with Donna presented by Mix 1, a cycling event to raise funds to finish breast cancer! The Jacksonville Team said “present” as seven Crewmembers and spouses rode from start to finish for this great cause. This 26.2-mile route began and ended in Nocatee, Fla., where riders can enjoy wide, newly paved, tree-lined roads while cycling through one of the most beautiful backdrops Northeast Florida has to offer.

The Crewmembers who rode and completed the 26.2-mile bike ride were: Maureen Cruz, Marian Hahn, Dennis Lorenzo and Tony Librera. Crewmember Diana Mbarushimana and significant other Gary Martin completed 16 miles, as Robert Hyde completed 12 miles for this great cause. Crewmembers Tony Boyett, Stephanie Librera, Maria Wilkins, Christine Hyde and significant others Lucille Quinones and Efrain Garcia manned the booth, providing Terra Blue Chips and Munchies Mix, which became the big “bang” in the event with all riders and guests. Donna Deegan is a local TV Anchor for Channel 47 First Coast News and on Monday’s news, her husband, Chief Meteorologist Tim Deegan, praised the participation of JetBlue Airways in such great event, and promoted our EML Seats, our DirecTV service and how they loved our Terra Blue chips.

A special “thank you” goes to Jennie Ewing, Marketing Manager, for her support in this cause.
