As part of our yearly, systemwide campaign to Light Up a Life alongside the non-profit organization Soaringwords, New Orleans Crewmembers decorated and delivered quilts to cheer up ill children. On January 26, the MSY team delivered their quilts to West Jefferson Medical Center. General Manager Brandi Dortch says that Crewmembers had a great time decorating the quilts, and that employees from Delta even joined in with coloring a couple quilts.

PBI Ground Operations Crewmembers channeled their creative side coloring SoaringWords quilts. The quilts are part of our larger Light Up a Life campaign, where Crewmembers decorate SoaringQuilts and SoaringPillows with inspirational messages and artwork for hospitalized children to inspire them to “never give up!”

We are now the official airline partner of the Arnold Palmer Invitational golf tournament, the preferred airline partner of the Arnold Palmer Medical Center and the title sponsor of the fundraising program Birdies for Babies. The announcement coincided with Tuesday’s Crewmember visit to the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and the Florida Hospital’s Children’s Hospital to deliver quilts they decorated for Soaringwords as part of JetBlue’s 2010 Light Up a Life campaign.
The annual Arnold Palmer Invitational, which takes place March 22 – 28 this year, supports the Arnold Palmer Medical Center Foundation, the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies. Birdies for Babies began in 2008, and allows participants to donate in various ways based on the number of birdies in the tournament, with the proceeds funding the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies.
As part of the sponsorships, we will match funds raised by Birdies for Babies and offer two roundtrip flights for two as part of the golf tournament’s grand prize. “By aligning our brand and our culture with these great partners and Arnold Palmer, in particular, we hope to inspire fun and friendly competition while giving back to the communities we serve,” said Dave Barger, CEO of JetBlue Airways. “Mr. Palmerʼs personal commitment to the well-being of so many through his charities is inspiring, and something we look forward to being a part of for years to come.”
Nearly 20 Orlando Crewmembers delivered more than 90 quilts to hospitalized children. According to one Orlando-based Inflight Crewmember, the volunteers “were trying to hide tears, but we were all very happy to be there.”
