Let’s hear it for the 13th addition to our family of interline partners: Jet Airways! Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline is our first interline partner at Newark! The alliance allows us to offer customers new travel options from JetBlue destinations in the USA to Brussels, Belgium and onward to India. With an average fleet age of just over 5.5 years, Jet Airways has one of the youngest fleets in the world, operating flights to and from 53 destinations in India and connecting 24 international destinations.
From JFK and EWR, our customers can fly non-stop on Jet Airways to Brussels, the airline’s European hub, where they may transfer to nonstop Jet Airways flights to Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai. In India, Jet Airways also offers an impressive domestic network of 53 cities including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Goa, Hyderabad, and Thiruvananthapuram.
Through this partnership, customers will now be able to book a single combined ticket for JetBlue and Jet Airways-operated flights with one-stop check-in and baggage transfer between the two airlines.
We’re teaming up with long-time partner KaBOOM! as well as with Revere Neighborhood Developers and the City of Revere to build our 11th playground this Saturday, Oct. 29 at Costa Park in Revere, Massachusetts. The playground build begins with a kickoff ceremony at 8:30 a.m. ET and the ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 2:30 p.m.
Costa Park, the children’s playground on Shirley Avenue just a few blocks from the Revere Beach T stop, is in need of revitalization. Recognizing this need, we’re partnering with KaBOOM!, a national non-profit organization dedicated to saving play, and local residents to make the park a place where families, daycares, and schools can feel proud to bring their children to play. When complete, the new playground will provide a safe play space for 500 children. Crewmembers from our Boston station will volunteer their efforts to help build a playground in just one day’s time.
The playground will be the 11th built by us and KaBOOM! in an effort to fight the play deficit and save play. We’ve also helped build playgrounds in Washington D.C., Salt Lake City, Utah, Kissimmee and Orlando, Florida, and Long Island City, New York, among other cities.
We’re pleased to announce today the extension of our partnership with Dunkin’ Donuts to continue to bring customers quality caffeine fixes while in the air.
To celebrate our partnership we’ll be surprising 43 people spotted holding a cup of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee tomorrow in Boston with a free round-trip flight to any of our destinations out of Boston. The 43 denotes the number of non-stop markets we will fly to out of Boston with the addition of service to St. Thomas starting on December 15. For details, restrictions and alternate means of entry, visit www.dunkindonuts.com/jetblue. In addition, some of our customers on select flights originating from Boston today will receive commemorative Dunkin’ Donuts in-flight ear buds.
Our partnership with Dunkin’ Donuts began in 2006 in direct response to feedback from travelers who wanted a better in-flight coffee experience. According to a joint survey in 2006, more than one-third of respondents stated that airline coffee was worse than their daily cup of coffee. Those surveyed also cited coffee most frequently as the beverage they would like to improve on the airplane.
How many cups of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee have we served on our flights since 2006 when our partnership started? Take your best guess below.
Someone to go on the trip with you – sorry, can’t help you there!
JetBlue Getaways is introducing today ‘Concierge on Call’, its complimentary concierge program in partnership with Mondial Assistance USA. As if this program needed anything else. This new Concierge benefit will offer a wide variety of business and specialty services as well as destination and travel information to customers through a dedicated, toll-free Access America number once customers book their vacation. Everything from pointing you to the next gas station, to booking an extravagant car to flare through the beach (without the guilt trip), this service can do for you. Like your own personal Alfred, a phone call away.
But don’t take our word for it, listen to what Grant McCarthy, Director Getaways and Ancillary Travel, has to say about the program!
Over the summer, our Commercial (or marketing) team partnered with Columbia University to give 52 MBA students a challenging assignment: how to keep the JetBlue product fresh for the next decade. After hearing a presentation on our history, growth, culture and Customer Experience, the students had a few weeks to generate innovative ideas and craft presentations.
Crewmembers of the Commercial team listened to presentations and judged on overall originality and whether their idea warranted any further exploration by JetBlue. The Commercial team reports that the Columbia partnership was a worthwhile experience and a great way to get a fresh perspective from the eyes of the consumer; ideas ranged from pre-flight initiatives — both inside and outside the airport — to enhancing the onboard experience.
According to Columbia, it was one of the best experiences the course has offered in years and the students learned a lot!
We’re pleased as torta (“pie” in Portuguese) to announce a new interline partnership with TAM Airlines, the largest airline in Brazil, to connect travelers to Brazil and beyond via New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Orlando International Airport.
TAM offers multiple daily departures from New York (JFK) to Brazil – to both Rio de Janeiro (Galeão) and São Paulo (Guarulhos) – as well as twice-daily service between Orlando and São Paulo.
At our growing Orlando International Airport focus city, where TAM recently doubled its own service, we offer service to more than 20 destinations across the United States, Caribbean, and Latin America.
With this new agreement in place, customers will be able to purchase a single e-ticket itinerary combining flights on both carriers’ networks to give them the ease of one-stop ticketing and baggage check-in.
TAM customers can connect onward to numerous JetBlue destinations including Boston; Chicago; Hartford, Conn.; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Newark, N.J.; San Francisco; and Washington, D.C. Similarly, JetBlue customers will enjoy new access to TAM destinations including Asunción, Paraguay; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Montevideo, Uruguay; Santiago, Chile; plus 45 cities across Brazil.
This year, TAM Airlines was named the “Best Airline in South America” and also recognized for “Staff Service Excellence in South America” at the Skytrax World Airline Awards. The winners are decided from a survey conducted annually by the UK based specialist aviation research organization with passengers worldwide. Between July 2010 and May 2011, 18.8 million air travelers from over 100 different nationalities evaluated 200 airlines.
