Fans witnessing history

Some talk the talk and some walk the walk. Seth from FlyerTalk does both. He joined us to do some of his own investigation on the operation opening here at T5 — but we spotted him. Seth’s impressions: “Absolutely amazing.” He loves the tons of open space in the marketplace. “It’s (Cibo Express) like walking […]

Prime plane spotting – 11 a.m.

Everyone and their mother is congregating down on the end of the East Concourse, enjoying the views of pencil-planes and jumbo-jets. Those familiar with T6 will remember that it wasn’t exactly window central. Thankfully T5 IS! This place is filled with soaring floor-to-ceiling windows — great for checking out the activity out on the ramp […]

Ground Ops takes a break – 10 a.m.

Hard to believe it’s already break time! We’ve got an incredible bunch of Ground Ops Crewmembers at JFK, and while running over for a cuppa joe I ran into quite the characters relaxing in the Marketplace between shifts. Needless to say, they’re loving their new home and all of the added space it provides them.

Restaurants getting ready – 8:30 a.m.

T5′s restaurants are busy prepping for Customers and the finished lay outs look amazing. Look ma! No lines – 8:15 a.m.

The curb’s a breeze this morning, and the departures lobby is no different. Our new layout for counters and kiosks seems to be working great — no lines in sight! Now that the sun is finally up, you can see just how much natural light streams through the terminal — you really need to experience […]

Planes, trains, and automobiles – 8 a.m.

New York is a funny place. It’s the only city in America where you see virtually no private vehicles on the curb at the airport. Regardless of how you arrive at T5 today — via the new AirTrain skywalk, black car service, stretch limo, or cab — it’s smooth sailing today curbside.

Sun coming into the marketplace – 7:40 a.m.

The T5 Blogging Crew is positioned five feet off the ground on one of the grandstands, where we had an amazing view of the sun creeping into the Terminal this morning around 7 a.m. Sitting up here with us enjoying a nice read was Customer Karr on his way to Oakland with his parents to […]

JetBlue’s town square – 7:30 a.m.

The Marketplace really feels like our own little town square. Our terminal is laid out in the three intersecting concourses — a martini glass shape, if you will — and the Marketplace is right where the three wings come together (imagine the olive in that martini!). It’s also the first thing you come to after […]
