Yesterday we announced plans to enter into a codeshare with South African Airways, recently named Best Airline in Africa for the 11th consecutive year at the World Airline Awards presented by Skytrax!
Subject to government approval we’ll add our B6 code onto SAA’s two daily flights from the USA as well as on select domestic flights within South Africa, allowing customers to more easily book itineraries that include flights operated by both our airlines. On the day of travel, customers can also enjoy easy one-stop ticketing and baggage check-in, making travel a breeze.
SAA flies nonstop each day from New York (JFK) to Johannesburg, the commercial heart of South Africa, and daily from Washington (Dulles) to Johannesburg via Dakar, Senegal, in West Africa. We intend to codeshare on these routes, as well as on SAA flights beyond Jo’burg to Cape Town, Durban, East London, and Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
The carrier’s Premium Business Class offers fully-flat bed seats while in Economy Class customers can enjoy industry-leading legroom as well as sumptuous cuisine and award-winning, complimentary South African wines. Just like JetBlue, SAA provides an in-flight experience designed for pure comfort with seatback audio/video entertainment systems that deliver tons of first-run movie and music choices.
Flights are expected to go on sale once we get government approval. For now, though, customers can continue to purchase JetBlue-South African interline travel on www.jetblue.com.
