Roadway and AirTrain closures ahead JFK

Van Wyck Expressway Immediately Approaching Airport and On-Airport Closed in Both Directions

Due to construction activity on the airport, the Van Wyck Expressway will be closed in both directions overnight 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. during the following periods:

Tuesday night (1/15/13) – Saturday morning (1/19/13)
Monday evening (1/21/13) – Saturday morning (1/26/13)

All traffic will be detoured to the JFK Expressway with signage. Due to the comprehensive scope of this project, please allow additional time to reach your destination when traveling throughout the airport.

between Jamaica Station and Federal Circle
Shuttle bus service will be provided between Howard Beach Station, Lefferts Boulevard Station., Federal Circle Station, employee and long-term parking lots and all airline terminals. Please see a Customer Care Representative for exact bus pick-up and drop-off locations, and allow extra time when using AirTrain JFK during this period.

Washington D.C. congestion expected, Presidential Inauguration

For those traveling to/from DCA and IAD in the Washington D.C. area in the near future, please note that extra crowds are expected on Tuesday, Jan. 22 – the day following the Presidential Inauguration. The airports experienced busy terminals on the day following the 2009 Inauguration when numerous passengers arrived many hours before their scheduled flight time. This year, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is working with local tourism organizations to encourage relaxed hotel check-out times and streamline the transport of guests to the airport.
