Flying Higher After Hurricane Sandy

We are continuing with a phased return to service following Hurricane Sandy and we’re working closely with the airports impacted by the storm to get our operations back to normal.

Updates include:

  • We plan to operate 80% of our total schedule today, building to 100% by Saturday.  Our New York/JFK operation is at 50% so if you’re flying to or from JFK, please check the status of your flight on line before attempting to head to the airport.  Roadways are very congested – please allow plenty of extra time to get to the airport.  (See below for more information on ground transportation updates.)
  • Our LaGuardia flights will operate to and from JFK today – except for our last four arrivals (Flights 986 from Tampa, 364 from West Palm Beach, 396 from Orlando and 382 from Fort Lauderdale).
  • We are fully operational at Boston’s Logan airport.
  • Washington airports (BWI, DCA, IAD) are open.
  • Bradley Airport in Hartford, CT is open.
  • Newark (EWR) is also open, and we will begin operations there today.
  • Service will resume today at Stewart International Airport (SWF) and Westchester County (HPN) Airports.

Additionally, for customers with travel impacted by Hurricane Sandy, we are waiving change and cancellation fees for those rebooking through November 14. Visit www.jetblue.com for more details and updates as they become available. We continue to ask that you check your flight status before heading to the airport. Returning to business as usual is a giant team effort and we appreciate everyone’s continued patience.

Port Authority buses will provide shuttle service between Federal Circle and the passenger terminals. In keeping with the State of New York’s transit emergency status, AirTrain JFK fares will be suspended Thursday, November 1, and Friday, November 2.

Community Outreach: To assist community members impacted by Sandy, we’re partnering with our friends at Wafels & Dinges, the famed belgian waffle food cart, to offer free, hot meals around the city today, including areas with no power most affected by the storm. We’ll also provide free coffee and doughnuts courtesy of Dunkin Donuts for customers traveling through Terminal 5 at JFK this morning.
