Crewmembers Honor 9/11 with HandsOn Greater DC Cares

Over the weekend, a group of our crewmembers from the Washington D.C. and Baltimore areas volunteered with HandsOn Greater DC Cares, the largest mobilizer of volunteerism in the region. To recognize the victims, survivors, and heroes of September 11th, the organization coordinated numerous service events for members of the community—a way of joining President Obama’s United We Serve service initiative, specifically the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance.

Our crewmembers joined other corporate and community volunteers at the Audubon Naturalist Society’s sanctuary in Chevy Chase, Maryland. The group was tasked with making compost bins, building a fence, cleaning up the activity center, and beautifying the garden area, where the society hosts free environmental education sessions for the community. The event kicked off with a tribute to the heroes of September 11th.
