Happy AMT Day! May 24, the birthday of “The Father of Aviation Maintenance” Charles E. Taylor, is a day of recognition honoring aviation maintenance technicians. Charles E. Taylor was the first powered flight aviation mechanic, and is credited with building and designing the engine for the Wright brothers’ first successful aircraft.
Per United States House of Representatives resolution, May 24 is a day “to honor the professional men and women who ensure the safety and security of our airborne aviation infrastructure, and recognize the life and memory of Charles E. Taylor, the aviation maintenance technician who built and maintained the engine that was used to power the Wright brothers first controlled flying machine on December 17, 1903.”
With that in mind, we’re showing some love for our amazing Tech Ops crewmembers today. They’re a team that well deserves praise for all the hard work they do behind the scenes to keep our planes humming!
