Monday we filed a “capital-to-capital” application with the United States Department of Transportation to receive permission to provide new long-distance service from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport to two unique and sought-after destinations: San Juan, Puerto Rico and Austin, Texas.
These proposed flights would be the only nonstop service between the U.S. capital’s downtown airport and the capitals of Puerto Rico and Texas – both of which are located beyond the airport’s 1,250-mile perimeter and are among the 10 largest markets without nonstop air service to Reagan National.
We intend to offer one daily nonstop roundtrip flight to San Juan (with connecting service to St. Thomas, the capital of the United States Virgin Islands!) as well as one daily nonstop roundtrip flight to Austin.
Both routes are supported by the two communities and their respective leaders – and now, we need your help!
Please let DOT Secretary LaHood know you support this application for JetBlue service from Washington to San Juan and Austin! Copy and paste this letter into an email to GovernmentAffairs@jetblue.com — or draft your own!
Dear Secretary LaHood:
I am writing today to express my strong support for JetBlue’s application to offer new beyond-perimeter service at Reagan National and link the nation’s capital to two other important capital cities: San Juan, Puerto Rico (connecting onward to St. Thomas, the capital of the U.S. Virgin Islands) and Austin, Texas.
JetBlue’s application will provide much-needed low-fare, high-quality service from the capital’s downtown airport to the capital of our closest territory, and to the capital of the largest of the contiguous 48 states. Both San Juan and Austin are crying out for new JetBlue service to DCA, being two of the ten largest markets without nonstop air service to the airport. Their application will bring tremendous public benefit and much-needed low-fare competition to DCA.
Please join me in offering your support for JetBlue’s application.
