Latin Food and Wine Festival took place in Cranes Roost Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida recently and JetBlue and the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC) teamed up as the event’s Official Sponsors. The festival was a great opportunity for us to celebrate Latin cuisine while promoting cultural diversity in the region. Showcasing some of the best in Latin fine dining, including food and wine pairings from Cuba, Mexico and Puerto Rico, the festival attracted approximately 10,000 people.
Cooking demonstrations and live music were a few of the attractions, as well as the booths of more than 40 vendors. JetBlue and PRTC were also sponsors of the guest chef cooking demonstrations hosted by Executive Chef Christopher Vargas of the Windermere Country Club. In addition to sharing recipes and tips, the chef demonstrated how to prepare Puerto Rican empanadas and sofrito, a combination of ingredients used as the base for many Spanish dishes; it often includes garlic, onion and tomatoes.
