June is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Pride Month, a time in America and around the world for recognizing the rainbow of human diversity. Here are JetBlue we are proud to celebrate the diversity and the contributions of all our Crewmembers.
President Obama this week issued a proclamation declaring it officially Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month. In this year’s proclamation, he said, “Every generation of Americans has brought our Nation closer to fulfilling its promise of equality. While progress has taken time, our achievements in advancing the rights of LGBT Americans remind us that history is on our side, and that the American people will never stop striving toward liberty and justice for all.”
At JetBlue we recognize and honor the diversity of our Crewmembers and our Customers. We extend partner benefits — from health to travel and beyond — to all of our Crewmembers. We also take serious our commitment to prohibiting all forms of discrimination – whether that’s due to religion, race, national origin, citizenship, age, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, disability, or veteran’s status – and anyone who feels unsafe in the workplace is encouraged to reach out to their Crewleader for support.
JetBlue also supports the LGBT community by sponsoring a wide range of events and organizations across the United States. Just recently, we sponsored Long Beach Pride and this coming weekend we’re taking part in Utah Pride in Salt Lake City. We also provide support to organizations like “Love is Louder,” a movement that’s working to counter LGBT teen suicides, and the Ali Forney Center, the largest shelter in America for homeless LGBT youth right here in our hometown of New York. We were honored to be recognized in the fall with PFLAG’s Corporate Leadership Award and by the Human Rights Campaign with a perfect score on their Corporate Equality Index.
