Flying to the Far North: Anchorage!

We’re pleased to launch service to farther reaches with the addition of our 65th BlueCity: Anchorage, Alaska. Starting today, we’re offering seasonal daily nonstop service from Los Angeles’s Long Beach Airport to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC), the northernmost city in our expanding route network.

Flights are on sale now for as little as $149(a) each way today through May 25 at for travel starting June 6 through June 29. We’re the only airline to offer southern Los Angeles customers service to Anchorage, our 14th nonstop destination from Long Beach, where we will also offer Alaskan travelers a host of convenient connections to cities across the United States. Anchorage customers will have the option to easily connect to four other destinations throughout the U.S via Long Beach, including Austin, Chicago, New York’s JFK, and Las Vegas.

Customers in Long Beach will be met with several surprise and delights today, including the attendance of Miss Alaska, Anchorage mascot Seymour the Moose, and moose antlers for those joining us on the inaugural flight. Upon arrival in Anchorage, traditional sled dogs will pull the first luggage off the plane in a nod to our first-bag free policy, and Mr. St. George will deplane donning a traditional Alaskan parka. Customers and guests alike will be greeted by Native Alaskan dancers and music, a podium composed of glacial ice, and light fare from local celebrity chef Al Levinson of Norton Sound.

Very excited and happy that JetBlue is flying up north to Alaska! I’m flying on the inaugural flight on May 23rd from LGB to ANC and wouldn’t have it any other way! I’ve been telling all family and friends about this service and look forward to more flights to Anchorage on JetBlue. Thanks JetBlue! Derek

There isn’t a lot of competition for flights to the lower 48 from Anchorage during the cooler months. Alaskans love to travel, and have money to do it.(Our economy has remained strong) Lots of people use their Permanent Fund and travel too. I hope JetBlue realizes that when other airlines pull their Alaska flights, JetBlue could profit by staying in.
If nothing else, do it for me.

Love the cheaper flights out of Alaska that you offer! Most Alaskans have family in the lower 48 and a real need to get affordable flights to spend quality time with those we love. My only request is that the flights last later into the year, through fall at least even if the price rises a bit. The residents in Alaska are usually working hard the summer months and have a harder time planning vacations during this time.

I took Jet Blue in the summer and was so disappointed that this is not a year round service. I LOVED the direct flight to LA without the annoying stop in Seattle. Please, please extend your season at least thought the fall. That’s when lots of Alaskans are traveling due to busy summer schedules.
