This week’s Tuesday’s Travel Tips takes us to Barbados! Located in the southern Caribbean in the Lesser Antilles, the location of this island nation just outside of the hurricane belt makes it a prime vacation spot (though its proximity to the equator means you’ll need to apply sunblock generously).
Barbados, which translates to “bearded ones” in Portuguese (the significance of the name is debated), is an independent commonwealth with a British hangover. While you’re visiting, be sure to check out the capital city, Bridgetown, and also be sure to eat some roti, kingfish, and fresh coconut milk.
As we often do with some of our most aesthetically-pleasing BlueCities, see below for images from this Caribbean gem. In addition to sharing your travel tips below, you can also tweet them using the hashtag #TTBGI. And don’t forget to give and get some great travel tips from other travelers at our TrueBlue Community!
