SNOWtorious BIG it is!

The people have spoken! We asked you yesterday what you think this winter storm #2381 should be called and the winner is SNOWtorious BIG!

A wise man (my boss) once said (this morning) that New York is starting to resemble Moscow. A layer of white coats the entire city and gray skies have become a staple this winter.

Today brings a whole new element to the wintry mix – ICE! The roads are slick with a layer of ice that is melting slightly as it warms midday, causing a slushy mess, and then freezing as it continues to rain and the temperature drops. In weather like this, it’s extremely challenging to deice aircraft. Planes freeze over again just minutes after they’ve been prepped with de-icing fluid.

We’ve been proactive in our approach to the storm, aware of the setbacks of mixed precipitation. We moved many of our aircraft that could not be stored in hangars in other cities so that when the weather clears up we will be ready to go.

Ice is back with my brand new invention
Something grabs a hold of me tightly
Flow like a harpoon daily and nightly
Will it ever stop yo I don’t know

Though it’s hard to believe, blue skies will return once again and we’ll get you to your desired destinations soon! In the meantime, be safe and be sure to check your flight status before heading to the airport.
