You Can’t Make This Shtick Up – Divine Intervention

As relayed by one of our Customer Support Crewmembers:

I was helping a Customer in an irregular operation (IROP) situation who was very frustrated. He had a business meeting the next in Santo Domingo but couldn’t get there as scheduled because of the storm. He wanted to know what I was going to do for him so I looked at all the available flights. I suggested he try flying to or from a sister city ariport but nothing I offered was going to work. He was getting more agitated so I even checked what was available on other airlines. He wanted me to book him on another flight with a different airline and pay the difference in airfares. I validated his right to be frustrated but told him that unfortunately JetBlue does not control the weather so we will not be booking him with a different airlline nor paying the difference in airfare but we would be more than happy to refund his JetBlue fare to his credit card.

He was not happy and asked me “who does”.

I asked, “do you mean who controls the weather?”

He said “yes”.

I couldn’t help but chuckle and replied, “God,” to which he he said, “who?”

“You know, the big guy in the sky.”

He got very quiet and decided that a flight to a different airport would work after all.

For the rest of the re-booking he was very civil and thanked me for getting him on another flight.

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I hope this finds you well.

My name is Sheng, and reader relations manager at, airline route news & analysis website.

Our team have been working hard writing aviation news & analysis on our own site and we wondered if you would be interested in some unique, free of charge content written for you to publish on your blog.

You will have full editorial control and it will definitely NOT be a sales pitch for us!

All we would ask is that you allow us to include one simple text link back to towards the end of the content which will hopefully be found by the search engines in the longer term – which is how we would benefit.

Please let me know what you think.

    Best regards,
    Sheng Pang
