This week’s Tuesday’s Travel Tips takes us to Fort Myers, Florida! Of course, the first thing that comes to mind when we think of the Sunshine State is beach. It’s fair to think first of the beaches since Fort Myers boasts some beautiful ones with soft, light-colored sand, and clean, clear waters that only a place like Florida, the gateway from the U.S. to the Caribbean, can offer.
Our Crewmembers from Fort Myers put together some great travel tips so be sure to check out the below suggestions from locals and feel free to leave your own tips as well. And don’t forget to give and get some great travel tips from other travelers at our TrueBlue Community!
Ground Operations Leader Steve points out that the Fort Myers airport, Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) is rumored to be haunted.
Steve also suggests you visit Thomas Edison and Henry Ford’s winter homes
for a slice of American history. He also suggests you catch A Florida Everblades hockey game or a baseball spring training game, where the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins both train. You can also see the new Red Sox spring training facility as it’s being built. Best yet, the new training facility is right across from the airport so Sox fans don’t have to travel far!
And of course, Steve relays, visit one of Fort Myer’s pristine beaches.
Depending on the time of year catch the Edison Festival of Lights parade, which honors the life and accomplishments of Thomas Edison.
Airports Supervisor Glenn relays that a great restaurant is Bistro 41 located in the Bell Tower shops on US 41. Ask for Cindy tell her Glenn and Margo sent you, he says.
There’s some great golf not far from the Fort Myers Airport (RSW), But Majestic Golf Course is off the beaten path and worth the extra travel time. Tell Tom that Glenn sent you, Glenn offers.
