Video of plane certification process

ABC shot a cool video about how Boeing engineers test 747s for the certification process, including taxiing through a giant puddle at 50 knots. 747-8 Flight Test Manager Andy Hammer says the water test is to see, “whether water actually gets ingested into the engines”.

    My first thought was, how can the plane fly through rain in the air (water must be “ingested” during flight)? But it looks like there’s a lot more water being splashed from the ground than the average rainstorm. Definitely not a puddle jumper.
