As relayed by a Customer Support Crewmember:
We had a Customer who wanted to try and get on an earlier flight than the one he was booked for. We allow Customers to do so by placing them on standby status and if there’s room on an earlier flight, we’re happy to accommodate them.
Well this Customer got all bent out of shape when we explained the process to him. He didn’t think it was right that he would be made to stand on the flight.
No sir, we tried to explain, stand by does not mean you will have to stand up for the duration of the plane ride!
Perhaps he had us confused with another airline…
