Flight 262

Our Flight 262 from Long Beach to Sacramento, with 86 customers and a crew of five, evacuated via slides this afternoon upon landing at Sacramento International Airport. The flight, an Airbus A320, landed shortly before 1 p.m. Pacific time.

Initial reports indicate that upon landing in Sacramento, there was a brake fire, and the crew elected to evacuate the aircraft out of an abundance of caution.  The airport fire department reported immediately to the aircraft and emergency response personnel are on-site to assist. Minor injuries have been reported and those customers have been transported to local hospitals. Our local Care Team has been dispatched to ensure the comfort of all our customers.

We will get back to you with more as soon as we have additional information.

Update (5 p.m. Pacific): The incident is currently under investigation with the NTSB and FAA.

Did everybody grab a beer on the way out? Just askin’…

Marc the beer was locked up for Landing Preparation….LOL…I have flown on Jet Blue (March 2006)and upon taxing down the runway in Orlando, Florida on take off to come back to Maine, The plane came to a screeching hault and we had to go back to the Gate…..I think the Pilot had to change his pants. Another plane was also coming down the runway for take off and almost crashed into us had it not been for the quick thinking of the Pilots…..I hate flying but from Florida to Maine it is a lot faster…..It was a scary end to a Vacation!!!

No. They store the alcohol away from the emergency exits now to keep the crazy flight attendants at bay :-)

@marc hahaha!!!! @theres wasn’t there a tire problem a few years ago where the tire somehow bent into the wrong position and the landing gears couldn’t come up? They ended up landing it as is with an awesome pilot, was that a JetBlue flight?

Either way they have some good pilots on JetBlue.

@marc… I think it was the same pilot…lol Jet blue has one of the safest if not the safest records of all. They are always my #1 choice when it comes to flying.

Boeing ain’t what it used to be…and as for 737′s….how about rudders that turn the wrong way….engines so close to the ground that they vacuum up any debris that might be on the runway (hence the nickname “Hoovers”)?
They should bring back the 707…best plane in the skies
