Turkish Airlines has placed more than two dozen flight attendants on unpaid leave with the task of losing weight or else losing their in-air assignments. The airline says that weight is an important component to air travel generally and is relevant to the job duties of a flight attendant, which include the possibility of quick passenger evacuations in case of an emergency. Turkish Airline employees will be reassigned to ground duties if they cannot lose the required weight in six months time.
Incidentally, Turkish Airlines’ meals have been voted tasty among their flyers.
