OK. I appreciate a minimally funny Reader’s Digest style workplace anecdote as much as the next person, but am I the only Jew who knows a smidgen of Yiddish, who has seen this column?

You are not using the word “sthick” correctly at all. It is not a synonym for stuff or thing or shit or story, as it is being used in the title.

Shtick means a (usually comic) mannerism or theme. Seinfeld’s whining is his shtick. Groucho’s mustache is his shtick. Rickles’s insults are his. Shtick is a gimmick. Lady Gaga’s clothes are her shtick. Her talent certainly is not. Modern, hip, and internet 2.0-friendly are all JB shtick.

Shtick has a number of meanings related to “theme”, but your usage is NOT one of them.

    Oh, and promote Steve Slater.
