Crewmembers helped to make Long Island City in Queens, New York a bit greener this Monday. In support of our goal to be a good neighbor in the community, Crewmembers participated in the Cool Roofs program, painting the roof of the Community Environmental Center (CEC) with a reflective white coating. The newly-painted roof will cut greenhouse gas emissions and energy costs. Robert LiMandri, Commissioner of the NYC Buildings Department, Richard M. Cherry, President of the CEC, Diahann Billings-Burford, Chief Service Officer of NYC Service, were all there to welcome Crewmembers, and show their gratitude for JetBlue’s support on this project.
We are a signature supporter of the National Conference on Volunteering and Service, the world’s largest gathering of volunteer and service leaders from the nonprofit, government and corporate sectors. We will sponsor two additional, upcoming Long Island City Cool Roof paintings in our soon-to-be hometown.
