Taking home the gold in the 2010 SmarterTravel Editors’ Choice Awards

The votes are in, and we came out heads above the rest in the 2010 SmarterTravel Editors’ Choice Awards in not just one but three categories — Most Customer-Friendly Airline, Best Coach-Class Experience, and Most Pet-Friendly Airline for Carry-On Pets!

On being the Most Customer-Friendly Airline
“JetBlue won on the strength of its cabin comfort, moderate fees, and strong performance with regard to low consumer complaints, bumping, and mishandled bags. Its on-time numbers were very poor, likely due to its large presence at delay-prone JFK.”

On being the Best Coach-Class Experience
“Compared to other domestic airlines, JetBlue offers its customers more comfortable seats, ample legroom, and extensive entertainment options. Additionally, JetBlue consistently receives high marks in numerous customer service surveys, such as J.D. Power and Associates’ North American Airline Satisfaction Survey and the Airline Quality Report.”

On being the Most Pet-Friendly Airline for Carry-On Pets
“Though the airline isn’t the cheapest to fly, charging $100 each way, its JetPaws program is specifically designed for passengers traveling with pets, and that made up the difference. The program includes a pet bag tag, a “petiquette” guide explaining the social graces of pet travel, and a welcome email with important information. Plus, TrueBlue members receive 300 points each way when traveling with a pet.

Another thing we considered is that JetBlue doesn’t charge for a first checked bag—a potential money-saver because your pet is considered your one carry-on. JetBlue also touts the most legroom in coach of any airline, so you won’t be as cramped with your pet under the seat in front of you. Overall, JetBlue wins for offering the friendliest flight for you and your four-legged friend.”
