FREE tickets to be handed out in NYC today!

Why? Because we like you! If you happen to be in NYC in the right place at the right time today (and equipped with the right information) you may be able to get FREE JetBlue tickets! As part of our ongoing 10th Anniversary celebrations, we’re handing out lots of FREE tickets (take a guess how many… you may be surprised when you find out) today in different areas in Manhattan.

Check our Twitter account throughout the day for the latest instructions on where we’ll be and what you need to know in order to qualify for FREE tickets (we’re not giving them away to just anyone)! And be sure to act quickly, as we may not stay in one place for long!

See below for an ad that is running in today’s New York Times to complement our efforts.

Cheers and best wishes for a successful hunt today!

I really wish this was NYC wide and not just in Manhattan since they told all of NYC to get ready :(

I’m not in NYC, but my stepson, who is a pilot for Jet Blue, had a skiiing accident a few weeks ago and broke his back and had spinal surgery. His dad has been out, but I have yet to see him, excepy pictures in a hospital bed w/a brace on that we will have to wear for 3 months. Why couldn’t I get a free ticket w/o having to fly stand-by? His name is David Holloman. Flying has always been a dream. He attened the AFA, where he was a pilot and still a member of the Colorado Air National Guard.

Thank you for a wonderful 10 years. I love travelling with Jet Blue because of the foot space and service provided on the flights. Keep up the GOOD works!

can you help me to go see my sister and hand out tickets in Virgina Beach…. I need to go to Salt Lake City.

  • Posted by Sylvia K on March 10, 2010 at 4:44 pm

Why only in Manhattan??? There are FIVE boros in New York City. Everyone should be given an equal chance at free tickets. This is DISCRIMINATION!!!!

  • Posted by Yael on March 10, 2010 at 5:10 pm

I’m like 2 blocks away but the card isn’t loading!

Tweeted this – and happy birthday! – but as a travel writer, would have liked to see the money spent not on promo but on revisions in ops to comply with DOT new tarmac-wait regs going into effect in April. (Ultimately not two different depts/ operating budgets as not-great press on how you’re spending money fighting it affects marketing…)

This is an awesome deal. It’s my job to find freebies in NYC. So I was really happy to find this deal and share it with my readers at Livingfreenyc.com!!! Thanks JetBlue!!

Why only twitter? Why can’t you post things on your Facebook page or even on here?!?!

Not everyone is a twit you know…

    To JB Marketing,

    Be BETTER!

I agreed, why is this event only in NYC there are 4 other boroughs in NYC and as well as Hoboken, Jersey City and Westchester where your loyal customer lives and worked.

You guys should know better since most you commute to Forest Hills and JFK daily.

Gotta love ungrateful people looking for a hand out.

I think this is a great promotion JetBlue! Congratulations to the winners, and happy birthday JetBlue.

  • Posted by Ediz on March 10, 2010 at 6:04 pm

    Sylvia, are you an idiot?

  • Posted by DC girl on March 10, 2010 at 6:25 pm

And to think, they say New Yorkers are rude and Americans think they should have everything handed to them on a silver platter.

    Sounds like a fun promotion!

  • Posted by Monique on March 10, 2010 at 6:38 pm

I am grateful that they are even giving this opportunity to the people of NYC, they do not HAVE to do this. So what if it’s just in Manhattan, Manhattan is in the middle, and there is something called a subway that goes everywhere!

  • Posted by Wendy on March 10, 2010 at 7:04 pm

Why is everyone crying that the free tickets are not where they are. Just be happy that in our economic times, a company is doing well enough to share some love, and someone out there in NY will feel special today. It’s not all about you, you know.

Way to go, JetBlue! Keep on trying, caring, sharing and giving and we’ll keep supporting!

  • Posted by Andrew on March 10, 2010 at 7:41 pm

Agreed Wendy! Way to go JetBlue – what an amazing airline!

  • Posted by Bri on March 10, 2010 at 7:53 pm

Seriously, haters? “Why not me? Why not me?” Shut up. It’s a fun promo. If it doesn’t apply to where you live, or you’re not on Twitter, too bad. Plus, you don’t have to have an account to see http://www.twitter.com/jetblue, so pay attention and stop whining. I just ran all over the city to two locations and didn’t end up with tickets. But I’m happy for those who did and thankful to Jet Blue for doing this…it was a fun experience. Happy anniversary, Jet Blue!

Here are my thoughts on the giveaway – brilliant marketing campaign and fun way to bring social media out into the streets. I feel like this is a scavenger hunt at a birthday party and since it is their 10 year bday, it is fitting to have a fun filled bday bash. http://bit.ly/aT7hlV

Social comments and analytics for this post…

This post was mentioned on Twitter by p_brady: Apparently @JetBlue is going to give away a bunch of tickets to people in Manhattan today: http://bit.ly/c0GZT6

  • Posted by Peter on March 10, 2010 at 8:14 pm

I can’t believe there are actually people crying and whining about this. Not everything in the world is handed to you on a silver platter. Grow up, please.

  • Posted by Common Sense on March 10, 2010 at 8:41 pm

These comments are hilarious. First of all, to the disgruntled travel writer, I’m sure jetBlue won’t be passing on keeping up with regs for this promo. A lot of their planes are flying with less than full loads because of the economy/tax season/off peak. Whether a plane takes off with 1 passenger or 90 passengers, the cost to the airline is just about the same. So it’s actually pretty smart of jetBlue to seize the opportunity to celebrate with some free seats and get some customer loyalty. People generally might not travel alone, and not everyone has free tickets, so purchases will be made. Good for business. You get the idea…

As for distribution locations. They’re looking to make the biggest splash in one jump. Get over it. Your fragile egos aside, Manhattan is in fact the epicenter of NYC, and as much as JB cares every individual who feels “entitled” to something just because it’s free, they care more about the efficiency and effectiveness of their promotion.

Finally, they’re not going to give you free round trip tickets to Punta Cana on Memorial Day Weekend. Look for the tickets to only be redeemable on off peak days. Like Monday-Thursday. Don’t even ask about holidays…

Cant believe this. JetBlue is handing out tickets for FREE and people are complaining. Im miles away from NYC and still feel grateful for JetBlue freebies. Keep up the good work.

West Palm Beach would love to celebrate your 10yr Anniversary!

Amazing campaign, JetBlue! Thank you for embracing what makes this such a fun city to live in. I saw so many people sprinting down Broadway with birthday cards this morning. Classic moment.
