1,000 FREE tickets handed out!

4424211141_23ee49dd9aThank you to all who participated in today’s Twitter-driven 10th anniversary celebration giveaway. We distributed nearly 1,000 FREE* tickets around NYC!

We started at noon on Broadway and Dey Street in the Financial District and asked that people bring us birthday cards. Unbeknownst to us, there was a greeting card store just behind us — luckily for participants, and Hallmark!. Our first potential jetter arrived less than three minutes after the tweet, with many many more to follow. We ran out of tickets in just 25 minutes downtown!

We than headed to University Place and 11th Street near Union Square (we first tried to take the subway, but too many people were following us so for safety reasons we had to hop a cab!). For round two, we asked that people wear something blue and bring us something airplane-related.

Our last stop (by this point we had lots of folks trailing us,  including some in cabs following ours!) was 50th Street and 6th Avenue near Rock Center in Midtown. This time, the ask got more challenging: we wanted people to make us a postcard of our 10th BlueCity.

We gave out nearly 1,000 tickets today — New Yorkers are QUICK!

    Had a blast leading up to it. Ran down the street for my bday card and ticket. Laughed out loud at the moment. Younger people running from all directions. Great promo guys! JB rocks!

    Next time you do a promotion like this, have different teams for each location to spring into action.
    I was very disappointed I had to be in Baltimore yesterday…I got back into the city, but too late to participate in the giveaway.

    When are you guys doing this free tickets event again? I’m in need of a good discount to be able to bring my 3 kids to my home land Puerto Rico….The prices are up the roof for their week off from school any help given will be greatly appreciated……I will go to the airport, your offices what ever it takes to a least get a discount or get free tickets………….I so sorry i miss it….it hurts that i didn;t know when and where this event took place………….:-(((((((

    WOW!!! I need a Twister Account. No wait, Twinter, Twootor, Tweeter? No wonder I did not get a chance to get the free tickets, I can’t even get a free account. You guys rock; you’ve made soooooo many pplz happy. Congrats on having a great airline and for truly giving back.
