Women-only bathroom on plane

Japanese airline, All Nippon Airlines, is offering women-only restrooms on their planes. Starting next month, the airline will offer one bathroom on most international flights designated for women exclusively. A representative from the airline relayed that the new offering is a move towards better customer service, but it may, in fact, be a more subtle attempt to address an ongoing safety concern in Japan.

While there is no evidence that women have encountered harassment from men aboard aircraft, the Japanese subway line in Osaka now offers women-only cars. These came in response to mounting concerns about groping on the trains and the challenges in effectively apprehending the culprits.

Whether customer service or secret reactive safety move, woman’s-only restrooms are sure to bring a slice of increased cleanliness to the skies!
