Charity golf tournament brings airlines together

Part of being a major airline is constantly competing with other carriers to earn Customers’ loyalty. But sometimes it’s fun to compete in different forums, like the World Airline Road Race. It’s a great opportunity to find out what a small family the airline industry is. It’s even better when it’s for a good cause.

Earlier this month, JetBlue Crewmembers joined 17 other teams to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities in a golf tournament hosted by Southwest Airlines at the Doral Golf Resort near Miami. FLL-based Captain Bruce Bateman was one of the players representing JetBlue, and recounted the experience:

JetBlue Crewmembers placed second in the Nov. 5 charity golf tournament

JetBlue Flight Ops Crewmembers Andy Grabnickas, Bruce Bateman and Brian Luke, and Inflight Crewmember Richard Blatcher placed second in the Nov. 5 charity golf tournament

On Thursday, November 5th, Andy Grabnickas, Brian Luke, Richard Blatcher, and myself represented JetBlue at the Southwest Airlines Golf Tournament at Doral Country Club.

We were proud to contribute to SWA’s support of Ronald McDonald House Charities. We also were proud to have scored 15 under par in a scramble and placed second in the tournament competing with 17 other teams on the Doral Gold Course.

We thought it would be poor taste to win first place in the first year we were invited, but SWA has been warned that next year “it’s game-on.”
