New Strategy – 12:48 p.m.

I had to give up on the food (2 lines ran out of food once I got to the front). So I’m letting my ice cream settle and watching the awards show. Lots of Crewmembers winning flights, getaways and mysterious gift packages. Now I’ll go back for more ice cream. When life runs out of […]

Giveaways galore – 12:45 p.m.

It wouldn’t be a JetBlue Crewmember event without giveaways galore and Vinny’s famous Crewmember ID drawing. Here are a few of our winners of the BBQ raffle…from Burbank Airport Ops, Salt Lake City Reservations and Darien Finance (today is the Crewmember from Darien’s first day at the Blue!). They’re celebrating with Alex Battaglia, VP of […]

Meeting new Crewmembers (friends) – 12:25 p.m.

This is Justin from CorpComm. This morning has gone by in a flash. Well a speech, ribbon cutting, tours, bbq and prizes kind of flash. It has been wonderful talking to and snapping photos of so many of the Crewmembers this morning. I had the pleasure of meeting Nizar or “Jack” from TPA. He had […]

In the shadow of history – 12:12 p.m.

I’m standing outside in the arrivals area setting up for the lunch bbq. I stand in awe of the history and beauty of the old TWA terminal building (aka the Saarinen building) that stands in front our new digs. It stands as a monument to all the airlines before us and as a springboard to […]

“JetBlue Does it Up Right” – 11:47 a.m.

And back to the food now… We’re out at the Crewmember and family member BBQ on the arrivals roadway. Talking to one of the workers from Local 580 who also worked on another airline’s recent new terminal at JFK he says, “there’s wasn’t anything like this; JetBlue knows how to do it up right.” I’m […]

The BBQ – 11:46 a.m.

So I’ve spent my time in line at the BBQ counting people. It’s not precise but I’ve already counted 250 in front of me. Note that there are 3 lines, too!!! Let’s hope this is the longest line ever at JFK, eh? It must be good food though, It’s a good thing I started with […]

Food on the fly – 11:45 a.m.

T5 is chock-full of awesome food, much of it inspired by New York’s top chefs. The restaurants may be impressive, but the coolest feature is re:vive, the gate-side touchscreen ordering system. Pop onto one of the digital displays and place your order…and it’ll be delivered to you shortly. You can even order a beer and […]

The Belly of the Beast – 11:35 a.m.

No pictures allowed, but if I summed up this baggage room in one phrase it would be, “Holy conveyor belts, Batman!” It seems like everything in that room is on one big loop. Makes me wonder how we ever moved bags back at T6.

Speedy security – 11:30 a.m.

Hi, Alex from Corp Comm here. This isn’t my first time seeing T5, but it’s still an amazing sight and it’s a blast seeing it filled with so many smiling Crewmembers. It’s a special, and somewhat surreal, experience walking around an airport terminal when it’s not in operation. The quickness of getting through security is […]

And we’re walking, we’re walking… – 11:01 a.m.

The doors just opened to the interior gate areas and you should see the all the people. Smiles are on every face. All you can hear are “oohs” and “awes” and pointing. Everyone’s really excited. I’m impressed by the size of everything. Even the bathrooms are expansive.
