Gabe the Military Dog Flies JetBlue!

Gabe, the beloved military dog and his handler Sgt. 1st Class Charles “Chuck” Shuck, flew with us between JFK and LAX last weekend. Gabe was being honored at the LA Dodgers game for his service to our country, and threw the first pitch with Chuck.

The 10-year-old lab mix is a weapons sniffing dog and executed 210 combat missions in Iraq from 2006-2007. During his year in Iraq, Gabe had 26 “finds” of weapons, bombs, and ammunition. He has won numerous awards for his efforts and is currently in the running for the 2012 Hero Dog award—you can vote for him here!

The pair of heroes was originally scheduled to fly on Delta; however, Gabe would have to fly in the cargo hold, away from Chuck. When we heard about their situation, we offered Gabe two of his own seats and according to Gabe’s Facebook page, he had a very comfortable ride! Check out this picture of Gabe with our Crew—thanks to their great service, we’re now Gabe and Chuck’s favorite airline!
