JetBlue For Good Month: Highlighting a year of Good across our network!

JetBlue For Good

Service and giving back are in our DNA at JetBlue, and our mission to inspire humanity is what guides us as a company. Between the Corporate Social Responsibility team’s work and our crewmembers’ passions, the common theme is Good – JetBlue For Good.

JetBlue For Good demonstrates our commitment to the cities we serve with a focus on three areas that customers and crewmembers are passionate about: Youth & Education, the Environment, and Community.

In 2019, we reached an important milestone as an organization, with crewmembers logging 1 million volunteer hours.  In 2021, our crewmembers continued to live out our caring value – check out some of their inspiring work from across our network!

This year we celebrated Earth Month in partnership with and supported their Great Global Clean Up.  Along with our customers, crewmembers collected more than 5,500 bags of trash and debris, totaling an estimated 130,000 gallons of trash removed from the environment!

Over the summer, our Soar with Reading program allowed us to distribute books to kids across our network.

This year we utilized a digital book vending machine so children could select their own home library.  Crewmembers helped support book distribution events and over 10,000 books were placed into the hands of kids who need them most!

In the fall, JetBlue volunteers from San Juan and Los Angeles joined our longtime-partner The Ricky Martin Foundation to distribute meals, clothing and other necessities to reunited asylum-seeking families in Los Angeles. The drive-by distribution event was sponsored by the nonprofit group This is About Humanity.

Disaster Response – Helping Haiti

Giving back is part of who we are at JetBlue, and we take pride in helping others when they are most in need especially after a natural disaster. On August 14, 2021, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck the Tiburon Peninsula in Haiti.  Over 2,200 people were killed and over 12,000 were injured.  JetBlue began coordinating efforts with our nonprofit community partners on the ground along with  Port-au-Prince crewmembers to determine the greatest need and provide Haiti with desperately needed support.

JetBlue supported over 19 organizations including the AFYA Foundation, World Central Kitchen, and Team Rubicon. JetBlue was able to fly over 150 volunteer relief workers to Haiti, and our crewmembers stepped up to get over 14,000 lbs. of relief supplies to Haiti and donated over $25,000.

JetBlue Foundation:

The JetBlue Foundation continues its commitment to helping create and inspire the next generation of aviation pioneers. Despite the uncertainty of the pandemic, crewmembers donated to our foundation in support of education and programming in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Thanks to the generous support of crewmembers, the JetBlue Foundation offered programming, resources, and award grants to help several STEM education programs keep their doors open and ensure students continued their studies during the Covid-19 pandemic.

We are happy to announce that we just closed our 2021 Grant Application Window and will be awarding qualified selected organizations with grants later this year. We are proud to continue our commitment and are excited for what is on the horizon. Thank you to all our crewmembers who help support the JetBlue Foundation.

Since Inception (2013):

  • Supported organizations with over $1 million in in-kind support (travel certificates)
  • Over 3,000 volunteer hours logged
  • Over 90 organizations supported
  • Over $1.2 million in grants awarded
  • Over 35,000 future aviators inspired

More caring from our crewmembers.

Giving back extends to all acts of caring – big and small.  Crewmembers across our network gave over 4,000 hours of their time this year volunteering to support their local communities through a variety of activities, including:

  • Grocery shopping for homebound neighbors
  • Providing care and gift packages to medical professionals
  • Childcare and tutoring
  • Creating greeting cards for local nursing homes
  • Organizing and managing a neighborhood caring network connecting volunteers with those who need support

Caring extends beyond what we do at 35,000 feet. At JetBlue, we’re committed to making the communities we serve even better, because it’s not just about where we fly – it’s about engaging and working with the cities that our customers and crewmembers call home.

We’re here for good JetBlue For Good.
