Aeromexico cuts flights to Arizona in response to immigration reform

Aeromexico announced a reduction in flights between Mexico and Arizona in response to the new immigration reform signed by Governor Jan Brewer last Friday. The law effectively allows police to detain and question anyone they believe may be an illegal immigrant, without prior suspicion.

“We’ve lowered the number of flights there significantly due to the way our compatriots are treated,” CEO Andres Conesa said. Mexican President Felipe Calderon said the law was “racial discrimination” and even California lawmakers called for a business boycott with Arizona and President Obama expressed his criticism of the law.
