JetBlue’s New Fully Connected In-Seat Experience

Here at JetBlue we’re always looking for ways to take the inflight experience to the next level for our customers. Whether it’s by introducing the fastest free Wi-Fi available in the sky or offering unlimited name brand snacks and beverages on every flight, we’re always looking for ways to make the JetBlue experience feel more like home.

We’re proud that we haven’t stopped innovating and today we’re sharing new details on our exciting, all new cabin design and fully connected, gate-to-gate in-seat experience. Check it out for yourself.

What you’ll get with the fully connected in-seat experience

  1. Bigger touch screen – We’re almost doubling the size of our seatback screens taking them from 5.6″ to a whopping 10.1″. If that’s not enough, we’re also making them fully HD and adding touch capability for a seamless and modern experience.
  2. More entertainment options – The cabin is going to feel just like your living room with over 100 channels of DirecTV, 300+ movies and TV shows on demand, and personal device pairing.
  3. Endless possibilities – Our new inflight entertainment system is fully customizable giving us the ability to create custom apps and experiences at each and every seat.
  4. Nonstop connectivity  – Plug in and power on with power outlets and USB plus access to our free broadband Internet access, Fly-Fi, from gate-to-gate. Now you can steam, text, and email from the moment you sit down to the moment you arrive at your final destination.
  5. Improved comfort – Brand new ergonomic seats with unparalleled support and adjustable headsets are sleek, modern, and comfortable (a seat our A321 customers know and love).
  6. Fresh modern cabin – Arrive feeling refreshed thanks to LED lighting and a modern interior.

Let’s Play Airport Holiday Edition!

Holiday travel isn’t easy so here’s a video highlighting some travel tips to help get you through airport security a litter faster (and saner this week).

Santa, elves, gingerbread men and even Scrooge are all welcome aboard any JetBlue flight, but can your pie fly? Let’s Play Airport and find out.

Wrapped gifts

While wrapped gifts can fly, they may need to be inspected by TSA, so we suggest bringing the paper along for the ride and saving the gift-wrapping for after you’ve arrived at your final destination. We would hate for you to ruin the surprise with an unwrapped gift!

gifts X

They’re fun to ride, but they can’t fly as checked luggage or a carry-on. Be sure to leave the lithium battery-powered hoverboard at home this holiday season.

hoverboard x

Jams, jellies, cranberry sauce, gravy and dips

If they’re not in containers of 3 ounces or less, jams, jellies, cranberry sauce, gravy and dips, while delicious, will have to be left at home (or eaten before going through your local TSA checkpoint).

jam x

Pies can fly! Make sure they’re carried in their proper container for speedy screening.

pie x

You can dream about winter while you’re napping in your comfy JetBlue seat, but snowglobes must also obey the 3 ounce-liquid rule and cannot be carried on.

snowglobe x

This holiday season planning ahead is our tip. Anticipate increased traffic to the airport and longer lines once you get there. For more about what can and can’t fly, visit the TSA online and watch the full ‘Let’s Play Airport’ video here!

JetBlue Partners with DoSomething.org on Massive Recycling Campaign

Through our charitable fundraiser, The JetBlue Swing For Good Golf Classic, we have the pleasure of powering DoSomething.org’s aluminum can recycling campaign, 50 Cans.

DoSomething.org is one the largest organizations for youth and social change with 4.6 million members who tackle campaigns that impact every cause, from poverty to violence to the environment to literally everything else.

The campaign 50 Cans asks young people to recycle 50 (or more!) aluminum cans. Since the campaign’s launch on October 1st, over 34,000 young people have recycled close to half a million aluminum cans. This impact is tremendous when you consider that Americans throw away enough aluminum to rebuild the entire commercial airline fleet every three months.

JetBlue is excited to support the 50 Cans campaign because we understand the importance of recycling and preserving our natural resources. We know that natural beauty inspires travel and that it is in everyone’s interest (and the planet’s!) to keep destinations beautiful. That’s why we are committed to addressing environmental concerns such as greenhouse gases, pollution, and waste. Partnering with DoSomething.org was a natural fit for us because we recognize the potential of young people and want make sure that future generations can also enjoy the special places we travel to now.

50 Cans is running until December 31st, so there is still plenty of time to get involved. Sign up at DoSomething.org/cans. Participants between the ages 13 to 25 will enter for the chance to win a $5,000 scholarship.

Need more inspiration to join? Below are some more DoSomething.org members who went above and beyond with both environmentalism and art.

Crewmembers help donate 500 age-appropriate books to Arbor Hill Elementary School in Albany, New York

As we prepared to launch our new service between Albany International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Orlando International Airport, we introduced ourselves to the Albany community with a book reading and book donation event on Wednesday, December 9th. Crewmembers from Albany, Long Island City, and Burlington donated 500 age-appropriate books to eager first and second grade students of Arbor Hill Elementary School in Albany, New York.

Over 100 first and second graders gathered around our crewmembers for a book reading of Rosie Revere, Engineer – a book which helps promote S.T.E.M. education (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). Upon the conclusion of the book reading, each first and second grader was surprised with a bundle of three age-appropriate books to take home to add to and/or build their personal home libraries.

Youth and education are the key pillars of our corporate social responsibility platform and one of our key initiatives is Soar With Reading; where we help provide age-appropriate books to children in underserved areas, enabling their imaginations to take flight through reading.

It’s #GivingTuesday! Donate To Your Favorite Charity With Our TrueBlue Points Donation Program

We are excited to announce the results of our seventh annual Swing For Good fundraising campaign. In collaboration with our local business partners, crewmembers and customers, this year we raised $750,000 for three youth and community focused non-profit organizations: DoSomething.org, Together We Ride, and the JetBlue Foundation. Each non-profit partner received $250,000 to continue their drive to improve education and strengthen our communities. JetBlue’s annual fundraising efforts include the Swing For Good Golf Classic and the Bid For Good online charitable auction. Since 2008, these initiatives have raised more than $2.95 million for charitable organizations focused on youth, education and community – the core pillars of the airline’s corporate social responsibility platform.

This #GivingTuesday (the first Tuesday following Thanksgiving weekend), we encourage our TrueBlue members to join us in donating to their favorite charities and causes through our TrueBlue Points Donation program, a recent addition our loyalty program.

#ActOnClimate – JetBlue Joins the American Business Act on Climate Pledge

Today JetBlue joined the White House’s American Business Act on Climate Pledge, which includes more than 154 companies from across the American economy demonstrating an ongoing commitment to climate action and voicing support for a strong outcome to the Conference of Parties 21 (COP21) Paris climate negotiations.

The JetBlue ‘BluePledge’:

JetBlue applauds the growing number of countries that have already set ambitious targets for climate action. In this context, we support the conclusion of a climate change agreement in Paris that takes a strong step forward toward a low-carbon, sustainable future.

Aviation operates within the global business context and is preparing for global action on international aviation climate targets and measures to be taken at the 39th Assembly of the United Nations International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in 2016. While not a direct part of the upcoming Conference of Parties negotiations in Paris, the airline industry has a vested interest in a strong outcome in Paris consistent with the industry’s existing voluntary pledge to reduce global emissions from commercial air travel in partnership with aircraft and engine manufacturers, the Federal Aviation Administration, and others. JetBlue’s goals to reduce emissions through flying technologies and biofuels research will be more easily achieved and less costly if the global political and business environment is supportive of and united behind a low-carbon future.

JetBlue pledges to:

  • Support and invest in new technology to decrease flight emissions through more efficient operations.  JetBlue has already committed approximately $20 million for mandated technology and will continue to supplement that effort for additional investment of $30 million for capabilities in data and long range satellite based communications to improve flying efficiency. With these investments JetBlue aims to save over 500,000 gallons of fuel burn per year within 30% of our schedule operation. This objective and more emissions savings will be possible if the Federal Aviation Administration complements our investment with infrastructure, procedural changes and controller training in the Caribbean region.
  • Act on and contribute to industry-wide goals to improve fuel efficiency of 1.5% per year from 2009 to 2020; target a cap on net aviation CO2 emissions from 2020 (carbon-neutral growth); and reduce net aviation CO2 emissions of 50% by 2050, relative to 2005 levels.
  • Develop a biofuel commitment in 2017 for use in our regular, commercial operations in the future.
  • Transition our wholly-owned ground service equipment to electric ground service equipment where it is safe for our airport operations.

JetBlue’s Sustainability Focus

JetBlue believes in communicating transparently about climate change. The airline is committed to taking steps to address the emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs) from its flights, and JetBlue empowers and inspires its customers and crewmembers to offset GHG emissions when they fly. The airline is constantly looking for ways to become more fuel efficient and embrace efficient technologies. For example, JetBlue planes feature Airbus’ Sharklets, which improve aerodynamics and cut fuel burn and emissions. For more on JetBlue’s work to reduce emissions, please refer to our American Business Act on Climate Pledge and jetblue.com/green.

Singer/songwriter Pedro Capo is returning home to San Juan for a special pop-up performance on Dec. 3 at Luis Munoz International Airport. This concert is exclusively for travelers, select Santander JetBlue MasterCard cardmembers and contest winners.  This will also mark our first pop-up concert in Puerto Rico and third concert outside Terminal 5 at JFK. We could not think of a more ideal artist to welcome JetBlue LIVE to Puerto Rico than the legendary Pedro Capo – the modern-day Renaissance man who exemplifies the vibrancy of San Juan.

Capό has starred in major motion pictures, performed in hit theatrical productions, wrote widely-acclaimed songs for award-winning international superstars including Ricky Martin and Ednita Nazario and boasts seven #1 radio singles in Puerto Rico. He’s the grandson of famous Puerto Rican singer Bobby Capό and son of the well-remembered singer and founder of the Salsa nueva trova, also named Bobby Capό. Pedro is the third in a family of tradition that left its stamp on Latin music and Puerto Rican culture.

Pedro Capo will join an eclectic list of both emerging artists and top recording acts who has performed with JetBlue LIVE including: Taylor Swift, Boyz II Men, Aloe Blaac, Carly Rae Jepsen, Vance Joy, Ellie Goulding, Jason Derulo and many more.
